The looking glass on this site uses public RIPE RIS data. It is a useful view of the routes seen by those collectors, and a starting point for exploring BGP paths.

Start with the vantage point

A route collector reports what participating peers show it. A route visible there is not a guarantee that every network has the same path, or that traffic can reach an application at the destination.

Keep time in the picture

Collection and processing take time. Always read a routing observation with its timestamp. If a result is missing, that is a reason to investigate rather than proof that a prefix is unreachable.

The next step

A direct router looking glass is on the roadmap. Until then, the tool is explicitly labelled as a RIPE RIS view. There are no ping or traceroute commands running on the AS218506 routers through this website.
