Observations, not physical topology
Arrows follow AS-path order toward the destination. BGP is directional: a return path can differ. The shortest observed AS-path is not necessarily the route BGP selects, or the path packets actually take.
Each lookup samples one recently announced prefix, preferring IPv6, and returns at most 24 distinct paths and 64 networks. Paths to other prefixes can differ. Consecutive AS prepends are collapsed in the graph and retained in the observation details. “Hops” means transitions between distinct consecutive ASNs.
Local observations use the existing BIRD looking glass. Public observations come from RIPE RIS via RIPEstat. Adjacency alone does not establish a commercial peer or transit relationship. Only an exact match to reviewed local session inventory is labelled a configured neighbor.
